THE PROPERTY TAX STORY

The Property Tax Story

Many people don't know that Proposition 8 was passed in 1978. Basically, it states that if you can't sell your house for what you paid for it, why pay tax on the difference? It is designed to assist tax payers seeking temporary relief of property taxes, by having their properties taxable value reduced to fair market value. That new value must be validated by the process that is Proposition 8.

We serve you, from beginning to end, of the Proposition 8 processes. Here's what we do:

  • We represent you, as your agent, to the county
  • We complete and submit your Prop. 8 review request (during the review period) for you and negotiate on your behalf, directly with the Assessor's Office.
  • We complete and submit your application to the Clerk of the Assessment Appeals Board, in the event we cannot resolve your case with the Assessor's Office.
  • We appear on your behalf, before the Assessment Appeals Board, in the event a hearing is held for your case.

Timeline of Our Service:

The process can only be as fast as the county responds. The timeline for this process can only be determined by the county's response time to our request. We do not have control over the length of time for this process.
